2022 Salon And Beauty TrendsAs things begin to open back up, again, the salon and beauty industry is starting to surge. While there was a bit of a drop in sales over the course of the pandemic, things are beginning to normalize a bit. With that being said, the industry relies heavily on being up to date on the latest trends. Here we look at several of the hottest salon and beauty trends for 2022.

Tinted Sunscreens That Offer Blue Light Protection

Blue light emitted from increased screen use raises concerns for hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and sallowness. Consumers are spending more time than ever in front of screens, so sunscreens that do double duty will be in increased demand.

Glittering Fantasy Makeup

The popularity of shows like 'Euphoria' has seen a rising trend of glittery shadow, pearl and rhinestone appliques on both the face and eye, bright shades, and the return of cyclical trends like the cut crease and winged liner.

Pastel Shades

Pastel shades on the eyes have seen a similar resurgence. "Brights" are often back on-trend during times of economic uncertainty, and a pop of color is a sure way to lift spirits while staying within your budget.

Complexion

While bold and shimmering eyes are on-trend, the rest of the makeup forecast emphasizes a healthy radiant complexion and sheer shiny lips with just a kiss of color. Heavy foundations and liquid lips are fading in favor of sheer skin tints, hydrating light foundations, and lip oils for a juicy pout.

Hair Trends

In many ways, the hair trends of the moment and for the upcoming seasons are a return to the not-so-distant past: the 90s. Chunky highlights, a face-framing "money piece" (a bold pop of bright blonde or vivid color framing just the face), shimmering woven-in hair tinsel, and even the shag are back in full force. Other trends to watch are the return of fluffy, super volumized hair and even the Rachel cut. Trends are moving away from the simplicity of balayage, blunt cuts, and long layers. We will continue to see more bobs, bouncy layers, and bangs.
