5 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Recharge And Remain FocusedOwning a small business is hard work.  It’s essential to take some time with family and friends to relax and enjoy all you’ve strived for.  Alone time can be important as well.  Without those elements, you run the risk of burning out or simply not giving your business your all.  Either scenario can be very hazardous to the well-being and longevity of your small business.  When you’re running a small business, it can consume your life.  So how can entrepreneurs and small business owners recharge their batteries and eliminate the pitfalls involved with exhaustion?  Which actions will prevent you from getting to that point in the first place?

Regular Exercise

“In addition to the obvious health benefits, burning extra calories on a regular basis helps you better deal with anger and stress.” – Success Magazine

Even small steps to become more active can make a world of difference in your mood and performance.  Regular exercise increases brain function and releases endorphins, allowing you to think more clearly and remain calm under pressure.

Mindfulness And Meditation

“The main obstacle, in my experience, is an inability to stop thinking about work, which means that even breaks don't offer much of a recharge. This is where mindfulness and meditation come in. Learn to disconnect your mind, be mindful, and make the most of the valuable time you can take off. - Shan Rizvi, Just Ads” – Forbes

In business and in life, the only thing you truly have control over is yourself.  While the world remains a constant variable, being able to center yourself and control your emotions and reactions will allow you to make better business decisions and enjoy your entrepreneurial journey.

Hobbies And Sports

“Take up a new hobby or sport with regular classes. This can force you out of autopilot to help your brain get the recharging it needs.” – Entrepreneur

Having some sort of creative outlet or means to burn off excess frustrations is important to your mental and physical health.  The simple act of painting a landscape or competing with friends takes your mind off the daily grind and can provide a much-needed mental escape.

Delegate

“By delegating smaller tasks to employees, entrepreneurs can preserve their own energy for big decisions—including the decision of which tasks to delegate.” – Fast Company

If you want to be successful, you can’t do it all yourself.  Making wise hiring decisions and allowing your team to do what they were brought in to do will allow you to focus on the growth of your business, and even take a little time off now and then.

Unplug

“While unplugging may not always easy or encouraged in the environments we find ourselves in, it's crucial to our success and well-being in life. When we're able to disconnect ourselves, we can regain some of the passion, energy, creativity, and perspective that often gets diminished or lost when we allow ourselves to get sucked into our phones, computers, TVs and other devices.” – Huffington Post

Ironically, the best way to recharge, is to unplug.  This is the ultimate method of avoiding burnout.  Technology has everyone connected at all times and taking a step away from the noise is a necessary ingredient in maintaining your passion and energy for your business.  Go on vacation and put the phone and laptop away for a while, you’ll be glad you did.
