Halloween is not the only fall holiday, but sometimes it seems like retailers forget that Thanksgiving is a huge American holiday and can bring a lot of profit to their business. Many people are late shoppers and haven’t thought to buy their thanksgiving napkins, clothing, décor, table cloths, etc. yet. By the time these shoppers remember, many stores only have Christmas supplies. Offering fall items up until the Thanksgiving holiday will give your retail location an edge.
Don’t Forget Other Holidays
When selling items for the holiday season, remember that there are other religions that also celebrate holidays this time of year. Offering items for all of the popular holidays is an excellent way to be inclusive and expand your customer base.
Stay Stocked Through The Holiday
Last-minute shoppers will be in a bind a week or two before the holidays when stores are running scarcely low on products. Make sure you keep a good stock of the most in-demand items so that you can meet demands throughout the whole season.
Offer An Incentive For Early Shoppers
Sometimes you can encourage shoppers to purchase before the “rush” of the season by offering a gift with purchase or a discount on certain items when they shop early.
Make A Black Friday Plan
Black Friday has evolved over the years to span multiple days and even multiple weeks for some stores. It is important to have a solid plan and a backup plan for whatever your black Friday sales may entail. This will make the day a pleasant experience for you, your employees, and the customers. The chaos of this day being minimized will also reduce the risk of incidents you sometimes see at larger box stores.
