How To Go From Small Business Owner To EntrepreneurIf you’re a small business owner that’s looking for more, a jump to entrepreneurship may be right for you. Many of the same traits that make a great small business owner are common amongst successful entrepreneurs. Here we outline how to go from small business owner to entrepreneur.

Take Calculated Risks

There’s no way around it, if you want to be an entrepreneur, you’re going to need to take risks.  Whether that’s a large investment or leaving a steady business behind, the entrepreneurial spirit is defined by taking risks. Of course, you want to do your homework and make as informed a decision as possible, but true entrepreneurs sometimes need to just follow their instincts and put it all on the line.

Focus On Innovation

Entrepreneurs need to be inventive and always thinking toward the future. Time needs to be scheduled with the sole focus of coming up with new ideas, whether they be promotions, products or new businesses. Every decision being made should be done so with an eye on the long term.  Always be thinking of new ways to improve the products and services that you offer. Keep an eye on the competition and look for ways to innovate and separate yourself from them.

Passion Is A Must

One thing that all entrepreneurs have in common is their passion for business, growth and innovation. If you find yourself searching for ways to get motivated on a daily basis, entrepreneurship may not be for you. There will be long days and lots of work. You need to make sure you’re built for that before considering making the move from small business owner to entrepreneur. Additionally, once you’ve decided to make the move, do your best to involve yourself with business ventures that truly capture your interest.

Leave Your Mark

Most entrepreneurs aspire to leave their mark on an industry or the world rather than just being focused on making money. The desire to create change and be remembered is a key attribute of successful entrepreneurs. While most small business owners are content to make a living, and there’s nothing wrong with that, entrepreneurs want the world to know who they are and what they’ve done. If this sounds like you, it may be time to take that leap.
