How To Manage Foot Traffic At Your Retail Store During Busier TimesShopping is on everyone’s mind this time of year which means more foot traffic for you and your store. Now, this is something we all like to see because that means more sales are being made but how do make this most effective so that its not overwhelming for your customers or the staff and nothing is missed. I have a few tips that should help tremendously during the final days of the holiday season.

Adjust Hours

Taking a look at the metrics, you will see that a good majority of your business may come from the early morning hours and the evening hours after the majority of people get off work. You will also see a large amount of traffic on weekends. To be successful and get people through the doors may mean you have to extend or alter hours to accommodate the holiday rush. This will allow the right flow of people in your doors while also having the appropriate staff on board.

Integrate Drive Up And Online Orders

One thing that may deter some shoppers this holiday season is the amount of people shopping. These customers still want to partake in your specials but may not want to brave the large crowds at the store. So, online shopping with an in-store pick up has become a very successful means of shopping. Not to mention, it will attract and generate more sales while managing foot traffic for your store.

Coordinate Marketing In Social Media

With tons of sales going on this time of year and not wanting to get lost in the shuffle make sure to get with your marketing team. Doing this the right way will make sure people know your new hours, specials and if you incorporated anything different with the set-up of the store. This will be your most useful tool this holiday season when getting information out about anything you need to get out there. So, make sure you are on the same page as your social media marketing team.

Store Flow Plan

Having a designated flow throughout the store and especially at the check-out or customer service desk will help tremendously. Not to mention having a map to show where things are located so customers can easily navigate their way around the store so it’s easier to get them in and out. This ease of in and out will not only help your store but your customers as well. This will pay off exponentially when it is the busiest time of the day.
