Along with these more recognized days, there are also a number of other national days you might not be aware of. Here are just a few of the national days celebrated during the month. [**Star Wars Day** ](https://www.starwars.com/news/may-the-4th-be-with-you-cultural-history) Like anything that emerges from the collective passion of a group of people, the *Star Wars *fan holiday on May 4 each year has no single point of origin. It has no official commencement year, no formal dedication. It is a grassroots phenomenon that now transcends the English language pun that inspired it. Around the world, "May 4 Be With You" is more ubiquitously known as "[*Star Wars *Day](https://www.starwars.com/star-wars-day)." [**National Lost Sock Memorial Day**](https://nationaltoday.com/national-lost-sock-memorial-day/) National Lost Sock Memorial Day, celebrated annually on May 9, honors all the socks that are no longer with us. Where did they go? We are not certain, but what we do know is that losing one sock of a perfectly-matched pair is a wide-spread phenomenon. So much so that we have a day on which to honor those socks we have loved and lost. [**National Frog Jumping Day**](https://nationaltoday.com/national-frog-jumping-day/) National Frog Jumping Day is on May 13, and we have the history behind how this day started. While the name itself may seem rather vague, its origins come from Mark Twain's first published short story about a betting man and his pet frog. Did you know that there are approximately 7,300 species of frogs around the world, and the most colorful ones are the most poisonous? National Frog Jumping Day is important because it brings literature to life, as well as brings awareness to different kinds of frogs and their impact within our ecosystem. [**National Pizza Party Day**](https://nationaltoday.com/national-pizza-party-day/) Having a blast on National Pizza Party Day is no pie-in-the-sky idea. Pizza's the very definition of a good time and your May 19 options are plentiful. Whip up something at home or head out to a wild pizza place for food and fun on the third Friday in May. [**National Scavenger Hunt Day**](https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-scavenger-hunt-day-may-24/) National Scavenger Hunt Day on May 24 each year sends us off to find random items, all in the name of good fun. American gossip columnist, author, songwriter, and professional hostess Elsa Maxwell (May 24, 1883 – November 1, 1963) is credited with the introduction of the scavenger hunt for use as a party game in the modern era. [**National Talk Like Yoda Day**](https://nationaltoday.com/national-talk-like-yoda-day/) Talk Like Yoda Day comes on May 21 as an opportunity for die-hard Yoda fans to honor the day we first met the wisest little green guy in the galaxy. Yoda is one of the most memorable movie characters in history. It's not only the wise things Yoda says but how he says them that makes his character such an iconic piece of pop culture. [**National Hole In My Pocket Day**](https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-hole-in-my-bucket-day-may-30/) On May 30 of each year, National Hole in My Bucket Day is observed. This wacky holiday is in honor of the fun children's song; There's* a Hole in My Bucket*. The song, which has its origins in 1700 Germany, is about a back-and-forth conversation between Henry and Liza. Henry needs to fix his leaky bucket. In each stanza, Henry asks Liza for advice. In the end, he needs a bucket to carry water to repair his bucket.
