St Patrick's Day LimericksWhat is a limerick? A limerick is a short poem with one stanza. While the origination of the limerick is not known, it is thought to have started with Irish soldiers writing songs in the 18th century in a town called Limerick, Ireland. In honor of St. Patrick's day, we have compiled some of our favorite Irish Limericks to help you get in the spirit of the day.

A man while drinking Light Bud
Crashed his car with a sickening thud
The car that he hit
Had a warlock in it
Now he lives as a frog in the mud.

There once was a leprechaun who.
Decided to live in a shoe.
A foot came one day.
And to his dismay.
He'll grant no more wishes to you.

There was an Old Man of Kilkenny
Who never had more than a penny
He spent all that money
In onions and honey
That wayward old man of Kilkenny.

There was an old person of Down
Whose face was adorned with a frown
When he opened the door, for one minute or more
He alarmed all the people of Down.

There was an Old Derry down Derry
Who loved to see little folks merry
So he made them a book
And with laughter they shook
At the fun of that Derry down Derry.

There was an old person of Dundalk
Who tried to teach fishes to walk
When they tumbled down dead, he grew weary, and said
"I had better go back to Dundalk!"

There was a young man of Killarney
Who was chock full of what is called blarney
He would sit on a stile
And tell lies by the mile
Would this dreadful young man of Killarney.

There once was a Martian called Zed
With antennae all over his head.
He sent out a lot
Di-di-dash-di-dot
But nobody knew what he said!

There was a young fellow who thought
Very little but thought it a lot.
Then at long last he knew
What he wanted to do,
But before he could start, he forgot.

She smiled the day that I met her
and had eyes that said 'love' with four letters
and she carried the day
as I thought of the way
I'd done worse but I've never had better

A wonderful bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week!
But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican?
