Summer Restaurant Menu Trends 2019The summer months are closing in, which makes this a great time for an update to your restaurant menu.  The trends that will shape 2019 are taking form and those restaurant owners that are quick to adapt stand to profit tremendously.

Freakshakes

Freakshakes refer to huge milkshakes loaded with ice-cream, cream and flavored sauces. But they also include unlikely ingredients. Think donuts, cake, biscuits, brownies and other sweet delights.”  Everyone loves ice cream and freakshakes allow for an endless amount of creativity and customizability.  It will be a good idea to have a few signature shakes on the menu, but leave it up to the customer to make it to their desired taste.

CBD Infusion

As state and federal cannabis laws continue to relax, you can now buy CBD in everything from jelly beans to carbonated beverages, often with promises that it will make you happier and healthier.”  As the health benefits of CBD become more apparent, more and more restaurants are adding infused options to their menu.  As it is relatively flavorless, it can be added to nearly everything to make them more appealing to those looking for the benefits.

Creative Appetizers

Starters are a perfect fit with today’s most important lifestyle trends: downsizing of portions and prices; sharing and sampling; on-the-go eating; and around-the-clock grazing. If you want your menu to stand out, consider wowing your customers with your appetizers.”  Appetizers are more popular than ever, making increasing your appetizer menu a great idea to improve sales.  The more unique and creative your dishes, the more likely your menu will stand out.

Iced Tea Bars

With health and wellness foods trending, tea is showing up on more and more establishments’ menus. Many types of tea can contribute to your wellness, including varieties with digestive benefits, stress-relieving properties, or energy boosts.”  Much like including CBD infused dishes into your menu, having a tea bar can greatly expand your customer base.  Teas also offers great profit margins if they are priced correctly and contain unique or exotic ingredients.

Street Food

There are many aspects of street food that are compelling to the restaurateur. Much of the street food offers menu options that are handheld and are quick to eat. Foods like tacos, empanadas and the gua bao should be savored, but are often gobbled up quickly.”  Food trucks have greatly enhanced the popularity of traditional street foods and bringing them indoors can be a very profitable move for your restaurant.
