Online exposure can help drive business

As more Americans use their smartphones on a regular basis, more are choosing to employ the devices to shop - and they're purchasing products en masse. A recent report from the News Observer displays just how much minor internet exposure can drive sales for online merchant accounts. 

According to the report, Raleigh, North Carolina-based jeweler JousJous saw their sales skyrocket after they were featured on Amazon home page, showing how online payment processing capabilities can give businesses the opportunity to achieve much higher profit margins. The company saw their daily online sales jump from an average of six to 12 pieces a day to, in one 24-hour period, sales of nearly 500 units.

Many consumers unhappy with eCommerce experiences

Retailers who offer ecommerce options - and those who don't - better listen up: your customers aren't happy with the services they've been offered. And many of them, once scorned, turn to alternative retail outlets, permanently. For those who aren't yet offering top-level online credit card processing services, the message is clear: shape up, or your consumers will ship out.

According to a survey from Skava, 71 percent of Americans use their smartphones to shop at online retailers - but 88 percent of that sample has had at least one negative experience among such retailers. It's a shockingly high failure rate for an industry that's experiencing massive, unprecedented growth.

Retail Sales Up Six Percent in June from Last Year

Experts say an improving job market is one of the factors that helped drive a 5.7 percent year-over-year increase in retail and food services sales between June 2012 and June of this year. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that retail and food services sales rose from $399.9 billion in June of last year to $422.8 billion last month.
